Sebright Chicken Tutorial

When I drew the Sebright, it occurred to me that if you were coloring this on the computer, it could become a nightmare of coloring each little feather with the mouse...

I use PSP9, and this should work for most Paint Shop Pro programs from 9 down to 6 or so, I think. If you use another program or a newer PSP, I don't know if this trick will work as I haven't used those programs.

First, right click and "copy" the drawing. Then go to PSP and chose "Edit - Paste as new image". This will give it to you as a .psp image to work with. (If you used "save as" you'll have a .jpg and have to convert it to .psp to use layers)

Now go to "Layers" and "New Raster" - leave the opacity at 100% and the layer as visible, blend mode as "normal". Drawing on the new layer, outline the feathered area of the chicken. I've done this in blue so you can see it, but you should use the color you will be "painting" the rooster (Sebrights are silver or gold):

Still on this new layer, go to your flood fill tool. Set opacity at 50. Now flood fill the area you've outlined with the color you've chosen for your chicken.

Yours should look something like this:

Merge the layers and color the feet, face, beak and so on as you do normally.

Hope this makes the Sebright easier for you!
