Greyhound rescue – Fife

March 11th, 2009

I heard from a lovely lady today who was seeking permission to use the greyhound coloring pages as part of a thank you package for Celia’s Greyhound Rescue (Fife). Of course, greyhound lover that I am, I said yes, and went to visit the site. What a really special facility! Although they naturally cannot handle hundreds of hounds like some rescues, they give each hound so much TLC and a real home atmosphere.

I’m a bit of a starving artist myself these days, so all I can give is free use of my art. If you want a nice boost of happy thoughts today, visit their site, and if you have a few pennies to spare, I’m sure they’d appreciate them.

Brag brag brag

January 17th, 2009

Well, I was once again rejected for Giant Squid status. I had already decided if I was rejected a third time I was going to quit bothering, so yeah, I’m done. The coloring book lenses do very well though, as well as any lenses about the line art at color-your-own.com so those will stay up and maybe even be added to. I was quite proud that my group for Coloring Books and Coloring Pages on the Internet was awarded an “Excellent Group Award”.

I have a number of projects I want to get going on next week – but I’ll sure try and get a few new coloring pages up, too.

Keeping up with your kids

January 10th, 2009

Happy New Year and all that! Hope everyone is doing great and having a wonderful new year. I’ve been busy, including a long trip out of town to take care of some unfinished business. Now that it is out of the way, I hope to be adding more coloring pages and other interesting goodies to this blog.

I ran onto this video today and found it interesting. I could sure have used some more energy this last week driving back and forth (an 18 hour drive was part of that little jaunt) and working. It occurred to me especially with so many people putting off having their children now until later in life that it must be a real effort sometimes to keep up with a young child if you are in your thirties or forties or beyond. Besides, who wouldn’t like to feel better and have more energy? So watch the video, see what you think.

New woodcarving patterns at Carve Buddy – Cougar

Cougar woodcarving

Mike over at Carvebuddy.com has somehow found time this holiday season to add a new pattern from my line art – the Cougar, or Mountain Lion. The photo at the left is how it will turn out – you can buy the pattern for the Carvebuddy or CarveWright machines at Carvebuddy.com. Aren’t these great? If I had any room here, a workshop, etc. I’d have to buy a machine just so I could do them!

Traffic and income have really nosedived on Color-Your-Own.com coloring pages website since the big webhost explosion. In spite of that, I have added some new coloring pages this month, and have more in the works. I’ve been working on some other projects, such as making it to Giant Squid over at Squidoo.com, and making ATCs and inchies for swaps over at Swap-bot.com. I certainly haven’t given up on the coloring pages, but with it now earning just $5 over what I pay for hosting, it’s pretty much just a hobby now.

I’ve tried advertising, blogging, writing about it, all kinds of things, and nothing seems to improve it or get me actually to show up in search results for coloring pages. *shrug* Ideas, anyone?

Meet Fancy Nancy, and learn all about crayons!

December 22nd, 2008

I dropped by my Squidoo group, Coloring Books and Coloring Pages on the Internet to discover two wonderful new lenses have joined!

Do You Know a Fancy Nancy is devoted to the dress up child of all ages! I always attributed my love for fancy dress, feather boas, and sparkly jewelry (and I’m wearing sparkly socks today!) to my inner pixie – but it looks like there are quite a few children of all ages besides me who fall for the fancy things! This is a fun lens to read and look at – and oh yeah, there are some free printable coloring pages of Fancy Nancy, too.

Crayon College is a place of higher crayon learning. You’ll learn all about the history of the crayon, and enjoy all sorts of coloring madness. For us adults who love to color (and kids, too) this will be a nice, fun read for a holiday afternoon. Right before you whip out your crayons, print a few coloring pages out, and settle in a for a nice long session of enjoying your colors!

I’m taking a bit of a vacation until after the first of the year – which in my case means I am not working 14 hour days – but I’ll probably drop by now and again, and perhaps even draw a few new coloring pages.

Have a wonderful holiday!
