The new of Elizabeth Taylors death hit me hard. I don’t buy into the cult of celebrity – but there are certain people who are clearly special and she was one of them. I remember watching National Velvet for the first time and being moved by it. I fell in love with Elizabeth when we were both girls.
This is my tribute to her. A coloring page of young Elizabeth Taylor with a horse. When I went looking for reference photos of her with horses there were many of them. It is clear that she had a real love for horses.

This was a pretty scary project for me. I’m still getting used to the idea that I can draw people – attempting a portrait with a good likeness was a big leap. However, I think it turned out okay. I hope you like it. The photo of young Elizabeth Taylor with a horse that I used for a reference is also available as a poster at AllPosters. Perhaps you’d like to order one. I think I will.

Later today I will get back to work on the big cats, Irish and Easter subjects – but I wanted to pause and create this. I also have some nice references of Elizabeth in Cleopatra, and a “cheesecake” pose I am partial to. If you seem to like the line art of Elizabeth Taylor, I will try and get the other two done as well. I also added a new category of coloring pages – famous people. Since St. Patrick was received so well, and I see searches for various famous people such as President Obama, I think I may have to add some more of these!
Enjoy.

Inspired by this article about the efforts to conserve the Jaguar in Costa Rica as well as the articles a few months ago about the death of the last KNOWN jaguar in the United States (who was in Arizona) I created these this Jaguar Headstudy Coloring Page and another Coloring Page of a Laying Down Jaguar. You can click here or on the thumbnails for the full size images. I plan to do another “action” sort of montage of jaguars, as well as some clip art and Zazzle products – so be sure and check back in the next few days for those, as well as some more big cat coloring pages, including leopards, black panthers, cheetahs, snow leopards and clouded leopards.
I’m going to get back to those Irish subjects, and Easter as well – I haven’t forgotten. Gotten sidetracked maybe, but not forgotten

First and foremost, I drew a plain ol’ egg. I needed one to create everything else I had in mind – and I bet if you do any crafting, you do, too. So here, in all it’s muted glory, is the egg line art.
Now that we have an egg – I can draw the Snarky Bunny, as I think of him. I’m afraid I started researching the Easter, and Ostara, and Spring Equinox holidays for ideas and found it to be as much as tangle as every other holiday we celebrate here (Christians forgive me – but unless you happen to be one of the few who refuse to practice the pagan rituals of easter egg coloring and hunting, well..hush). Out on the Jornada we have these BIG black-tailed jackrabbits, who are pretty snarky and fearless critters for “bunnies”. I got to thinking what they would say if someone asked them to be sweet and cute and cuddly and deliver eggs…

I had fun with the old snarky rabbit, actually -

New for today – the flag of Ireland, in case you need it for that St. Patrick’s Day study unit!
In case you’re Irish – I’ve put the flag on some Zazzle products so you can fly it proudly anywhere you go!

Today’s new coloring page is a cantering foal – just because I was in a mood to draw horses. You can learn how I draw horses on this lens; How to Draw Horses. Enjoy the Cantering Foal Coloring Page

Spring means such different things in different parts of the country. Here in the desert I notice we have baby lizards and delicate damselflies. We get a lot of spring migrant birds, too. A whole flock of robins settled in some berry bearing bushes in front of me the other day and I realized they would be a perfect spring coloring page. So here is a mother robin, feeding new spring baby birds coloring page. Click here or on the thumbnail.

Around here we are starting to see the first signs of spring – and one of the earliest is the migrating hummingbirds. Some are coming to stay for the summer, others are on their way further north. Here’s a new bird coloring page – a Berylline Hummingbird.

I’m sure feeling “Western” as one of my friends puts it. First Longhorn cattle, and now miniature bucking bulls. My husband and I had the pleasure to attend a miniature bucking bull event last weekend. What a BLAST! You can read all about it by clicking here. Needless to say, I created a couple of coloring pages – as well as clipart and some new Zazzle products I hope you’ll enjoy! Here’s the coloring pages.
