Miracles Do Happen
The job at the nursing home did not work out. Two words. Sexual. Harrassment. Ugh.
Things have been looking pretty bleak. Even after the Census called and told me they were putting me to work in a couple of weeks, we were pretty worried about having actual CASH until then to gas up the car. The chickens were out of food. I was down to my last $20 and hanging onto it to take the hubby for his second surgery to create a fistula next week. I was pretty worried that when the Census called me to go to work – I wouldn’t have the gas to get there!
But you know me. I was affirming away, praying, lighting candles, and casting my dependable little silver spell with my last dimes. The moon turned full.
The Census called yesterday. Today our tax refund came. We did a happy dance. We drove to town to cash it and buy chicken food and gas. While we were in town, one of the little hot springs motels I had put an application in at – called me for an interview! They asked when I could come in and I was delighted to tell them I was IN town and could come right by. The manager is a wonderful, lovely lady – as you would expect with a place into holistic healing and care. Her needs and our needs seem to dovetail nicely and I will start doing housekeeping for them tomorrow. This means I will have a steady cash flow until the Census calls. The hotel knows I will go to the Census – but also that it is temporary. It is quite agreeable for all for me to return to my housekeeping duties when the Census releases me!
Which is to say that my ship has come in, the miracle has arrived and we are going to make it through this time of transition in good form. We may be a bit tight for cash now and then compared to when the hubby was working, but no one is going to starve and he will be able to get to all his doctors appointments and so forth. I very likely have a job that will be able to be flexible and change with us as our needs change.
Unfortunately, I don’t know how much time that will leave me for Internet work. I will do what I can to keep things updated. If you don’t follow me on Twitter yet, now might be a good time to grab that or FriendFeed (I am foovay on both) as I can probably at least zip by and say “I’m alive” in 140 characters or less now and again.
The good news though – is that I will have the necessary funds to keep the webhost and domains paid for so nothing is going to vanish overnight – just maybe not get the constant grooming and updates we’re all used to.
Although there have been a couple of small sales on the coloring book shop it is just too little too late and I’ve decided to let it go. Right now $10 is enough gas for at least one or two trips to town – and will almost buy a whole bag of chicken feed.
I just really don’t know how often I’ll be able to draw new coloring pages. I’ll add when I can. If you want to help us out – there is a donation button on the right column.
